Let's try something new

So Lan is on grid with a POS in our wormhole.  It's just a small POS with 4 artillery for defenses.  There is a Corporate Hanger and Ship Maintenance Array there but as we have just discovered, it has no shield.  The Artillery is Anchored but not Online.


This is something new to us.  We haven't been wormholing for a long time, and certainly haven't used a POS before settling in here.

Lan de-cloaks on grid with the POS.  Nothing is shooting.  OK Let's take out the POS.  If he's locked out of the hole and can't get back in someone is going to take it out.

Luskette is watching our static, Lan has his 3 accounts on, Gerond has his 2 and my 2 are online.  We have 1 scout and 6 bashers.

We muster the fleet and go through googling what the best way to get loot from the CHA and SMA.  Do we shoot and loot?  Can we scoop it and attach it to ours and get everything?

Nope, looks like we have to shoot it and loot it.  It doesn't last long under fire and we are rewarded with a fitted Mammoth and a half fitted Manticore.  Looks like I'm the only person online that can fly a Mammoth. (I did the tutorials with Gallente, Caldari and Minmatar when I started to get a feel for EVE and to get a little extra income.  I think it was about 20mil ISK earned per set of tutorials which is a great way to start.).

I warp the Megathron back to the pos and pod back to the ship to capture the mammoth.  I don't have the shield skills to online all of the T2 fittings, but hey, it's another ship.  Gerond got the T2 Caldari Frigate as he is the only one that can fly them.  Between the 3 we cover 3 different races.

We jumped back into the battleships once the loot had been relocated and continued to bash the POS.  After a bit of bashing we realise this will be a long process.  We've been at it for a while and the shield is at 75%.  DT is approaching so we regroup at our POS and logout for DT.

After DT we know our roles and are straight back at it.  The POS has recharged back to 90% or so.  Luskette is once again on the hole.

We 20 minutes and the shield is down to 70% and I'm startled by the wop wop wop of the WH.

WH Action.

A cheetah warps away and cloaks.  We are all aware and we have a visitor and the bash continues.

3 minutes or so later and the Cheetah warps out.

The shield is at 50% now.   This is mental!

20 minutes after the Cheetah left, it comes back.  Wop Wop Wop

WH Action.

I put in Local on Luskette "I see you're back again".  I didn't like that he was back.  Alarm bells are ringing but I'm ready to call an abort.

10 minutes later and the shield is down to 10%.  Oh it's nearly into armor.  Keep it up.  I'm going to grab myself an Amarr POS bashing ship.  Having to reload these Hybrid Turrets and then manually start shooting again every time it runs out of ammo is a pain in the ass.

I think to myself "Jesus that's a lot of noise"

and a dozen or so ships appear on grid and warp away.

FLEET FLEET, Bail Bail Bail.

My Megathron was orbiting the POS so I was already at top speed.  I hit the Warp button to return to the POS and mashed the recall drones button.  Sadly I didn't get the drones.  The ships looked like they were targeting a specific ship as I warped away.  Probably Lan's Legion.

I land in the POS and Rob's Alts are already there.  Looks like they got away.  Gerond's alt pods in shortly after I land.  Guess that's a confirmed ship loss. Gerond loses his ship and pod, as does Lan with his ship and pod.

I reship into the Helios and warp back to my 150km perch.  They are hammering the POS now.  Looks like they're going to pinch our kill.  DOH!  There is a sabre bouncing around and at one point gets within about 35km of me.  That's a bit too close for comfort.

The POS goes BOOM and they salvage, loot and clear out.  I'm on grid with 4 artillery batteries, 2 corpses and 1 loot can.

One of the killers posts in Local "Thanks for the kills guys o7" and away they have gone.

It's kinda funny cause it's not me.  I thought I'd cargo scan the container.  A Hobgoblin.  Yay!  I'm not sure if they have all left the wormhole but I loot the container anyway.

I unanchor all of the batteries and scoop them into a hauler.  I wasn't aware at the time that I could scoop up corpses otherwise I would have grabbed them.  Ahh well, live and learn.
