A Conflict Spilleth Over

It's was 20 minutes after DT and I managed to get into Eve last night.  I'd been doing manual labor all day (which is unheard of for me) so it was time to wind down with some gaming.......


I log Lusky in and I'm the only one online.  Well, let's see what's in store for me tonight.   Whoa, 8 Cosmic Signatures plus 6 combat sites.  We have some work to do.  Where the hell is everyone?

Oh that's right.  They're out getting pissed at the local Burger Joint.  I had to decline going as I spent last Saturday at PAX AUS and I really need to get some shit done around the house before December (baby due).  That meant fucking around with insulation in my new shed so I can put some internal walls up.  Ugh, I can still taste that shit.  I thought the concreting work laying the slab was a shit job but I'd take that over working with insulation rolls and batts any day.  But I digress.

Well let's have a look at the bookmarks, and yes that's great.  2 bookmarks are still current.  Fantastic!  I'm in my cloaky Proteus, and I don't have a probe scanner fitted.  I won't drop my Mobile Depot and do it here, I don't know if the siege team are still around.  I'll warp to the POS and do it.  I should check the system first though.


I'm cloaked and warp so I'm on grid with the POS, but not in the shield.  A quick DSCAN reveals a Tengu, "Just Do It".   Damn, I'm not alone.

I consider reshipping in the pos but decide against it.  If that Tengu is watching DSCAN carefully, reshipping will confirm I'm a local.  I'll have to warp to the SMA and refit then warp back.

I unlink my weapons so they're separate and unload a blaster.  Speed wise every bit helps.  Lets go.  I warp to the SMA and quickly drop a blaster turret into the cargo and put the probe launcher on.  I then load the core probes in before warping to the outer system.

When I land on grid at the outer system I launch the probes and cloak before warping back to the POS Perch.  The Tengu is on dscan still, surely he saw me.  Luskette is currently out of the hole and I had wanted to get her back in.  The Static hasn't been marked externally for 2 days so I'll have to scan it myself.  I don't particularly want to zone out if the wormhole has others in it.  They could watch me leave.

I use my 5 probe configuration and start scanning down the sigs.  3 Wormholes so far, plus the 2 Gas sites we already have marked.  Hang On.  There is an extra sig.  9 Sigs and a drake "P"on dscan.  I still have so much to do!

I've bookmarked the holes as I go and keep at the scanning.

6 wormholes scanned down so far and a Legion pops up with the Drake.  Woohoo looks like we're hosting a party!

I keep scanning and a data site pops up next.  Fuck it, that's 3 sites i haven't scanned, 2 of which i know are gas so we have 6 wormholes and 16 probes on dscan.  That's not including my 5 as they're now out of dscan range of everybody.  8 core and 8 combat.  I am not uncloaking at all now.



2 Different Legions appear.  Is this the siege group getting a T3 fleet in?

Another Legion and a Proteus appear as the Drake and a legion land on grid with me.  I'm already on my way out.  There is something going on here, and I'm on my own!?!


Another Proteus appears and a Loki.

That is followed by another Proteus and an
Astarte, along with 2 more sigs.  That's 11 now!

One of the guys says something in Local in russian before an imicus appears on dscan.

Whoa dude, it is surely the wrong time to be pottering around in a T1 scanner.

I start scanning down the 2 new signatures.  A Cheetah and a Guardian are visible now.  Is this the logistics for the seige?  I stop scanning the Relic and move to the last sig.  Surely a WH.

Another Guardian plus a Buzzard now.  I lost count of the ships long ago and if I hadn't taken so many screenshots I wouldn't remember and no one would believe me either.  In such a small period of time this is absolutely mental.  Maybe we should look for another home as this WH has been a freeway nearly the whole time we've been here.

Jesus, another Proteus and another Guardian.  Is this really happening or are there 6 ships all renaming themselves as a seige bluff?

Tengu now and I am really getting worried.


A capsule.  3 capsules.  4 capsules and another Guardian.  OK there is a war going on, but I'm not getting any wrecks on dscan.  Is my overview setup correctly?  I'm pretty sure it is.

The Astarte flashes up again and we have a Helios joining the party.  I remember seeing those musical notes before on a previous ship.  Right now I can't remember what it was though.

As I bounce around the wormhole checking dscan I see a new Capsule.



I land on grid with a Buzzard that is sitting on a hole.  I watch him for a while.  After 2 minutes or so it cloaks when a Rapier appears on dscan.

We then get an Anathema followed by the same Helios and Cheetah that were around before.

Then a Scorpion followed by a Megathron.  OK I can narrow the dscan and find those.  That a WH closing force?  I land on grid just as they zone out.

The appearance of a Phobos confirms this.

A Gila then just sits on the wormhole.  Well let's see what happens in 5 minutes if the Phobos comes back.  The tank on a Phobos should handle a Gila and this was when I saw the Helios and a new Cynabal.



The WH rumbles with action as the ships release drones.

The Phobos is pottering back to the wormhole.  It makes it out as a No Holes Barred Fleet lands on Grid.  A stiletto, Vagabond, Sabre, Caracal and Drake join the WH funtimes.  A huge fleet can't come back through to combat on the WH shouldn't be too much of a problem for all of these guys.  An Ishtar is also enroute so dscan says.

10 minutes or so and the Phobos hasn't come back through.  Will it?  Won't it?  As I notice the NOHO fleet warp to another wormhole,  I follow them in warp and watch them leave.

I then see the Buzzard and the Phobos on DSCAN again.  I quickly warp back to the hole just as it pops and that is 1 signature down.

All up there was shitload of ships visible on dscan, plus the others that I didn't get screenshots of.  I have never seen so many different ships in such a short amount of time.  I'm sure that checking zkillboards will shed some light on where the actual combat happened but I think it might be safe for me to log off now.

In the back of my mind i wonder how many of those ships were fighting, and how many just happened to come through at that time and were actually part of a siege force.

I'm not going to bother to check where the static goes today.......
