Our lowsec area has some incursions, and I was pottering around minding my own business. A neut appeared in local and moments later a Nightmare appeared on dscan. It jumped out and I see it get reported again. There are a few of us online so we form a flash fleet, Proteus, Legion, Loki with some Guardians, Armageddons and an Eos. This guy is moving fast for a Battleship and we end up in NPC Nullsec at a fork in the road.
"Which way did he go?" A luxury yacht jumps through our gate and we ignore it. We don't have any fast tackle, we're after a nightmare and possibly an incursion fleet. This could be interesting.
Nightmares are found, along with some Vindicators. It's getting real close to downtime, but once tackle is confirmed we all jump in.
The Nightmares scatter except the tackled one and then local spikes. Oh boy have we just fallen for some bait? Has another group had their eye on these guys and we both decided to jump them in the same system?
There are still multiple faction battleships on grid when dscan reveals that we have company. All up there was 1 Aeon, 2 Nyx, 1 Pheonix, 2 Archon, 2 Thanatos, 1 Nidhoggur, 1 Moros, 3 Naglfar to go with the 2 Vindicators, 4 Nightmares, 2 Scimitars, Claymore, Machariel, Flycatcher, Saber and Omen Navy and possibly more.
The Nightmare went pop and we warped to a safe spot but not before the Eos also went pop. Downtime hit and they guys said that was definitely enough for the night. We were ISK positive with a 1.1bil Nightmare, but it is never good to lose a ship. Looks like that yacht was a set of eyes. An expensive set of eyes at that but also a sneaky, easily ignored set.
When the servers came back up I logged in. A cloaky Proteus shouldn't have too much trouble doing a bit of scouting. Using dscan I could see that the ships were all sitting on the Astrahus. There were 28 in local including me. Yep we're not getting out of here tonight. Boy was the blood pumping!
Looks like an incursion protection fleet was on standby for these guys, which was a shame as it would have been interesting to see how we would have gone against a Faction Battleship Incursion Fleet with the few guys we brought.
I created a new safe spot and safely logged for the night.
