I got on late last night, 10:30pm AEDST. No other Corpies were online and I decided to just check my alts in Highsec. After running a few trips of Highsec Mining Ore to the refining station I jumped into the Helios to check out what was going on in some of the local HS systems.
I found a populated system and bounced around dscanning and got some drones without ships. OK let's go pinch some drones. Warrior II and Hornet II among the Hobgoblin I. I launched my combat probes and ended up picking up over a dozen drones, with 6 or so Tech 2 drones. I noticed some core probes on DSCAN. Old habits die hard and I'm dscanning even in Highsec.
Someone is scanning something. Ahh there is a Cosmic Signature. I can see the Heron on DSCAN too so I quickly scan down the site and warp there. No one is on grid here, so I uncloak and cargo scan the 2 cans. Sweet Fuckall in there (1 item in each can) so I cloak again, just as a heron lands on grid.
Haha. I'm currently 30km away from the cans themselves so I'll move a bit closer. I have had my loot spew ninjad in the past by a Comorant while I was in my Imicus. I did warp my Thorax back on grid to pew pew the suspect but I didn't have the skills at the time to tackle him so he just warped away when I got him into armor. Boring story I know but I thought I'd be on the other end of the deal this time. I wonder if I can pinch the loot spew.
While my Helios isn't fit for combat (can a Helios ever be fitted for combat?) I do have a Hobgoblin II in the Drone bay, and a scram and web fitted. If he attacks me I can scram and web him and unleash my HobGob of destruction onto him. <Insert Evil Laugh Here>. I set my safety to Medium.
I warped my other alt into the system and made myself a safe spot. I can then warp to that point once I'm a suspect and wait out the 15 minutes. The Heron finishes the can and I see no spew of loot. He gets onto the other can and the same thing happens. Both cans have been raped and nothing for me to pinch.
Another Heron then lands on grid. It's a special edition Heron that begins with S. Wouldn't mind getting one of those under my belt but I'm not going to have concord on me in my Helios.
I potter around for a bit more when I notice a Raven on dscan, with a few wrecks. An idea formed. wonder if I can ninja his loot. He must be mission running as there are no combat sigs here. I'll scan him down and have a look.
As I land on grid 150km away from the Raven I'm 70km from the targets he's killing. I bookmark a wreck and keep scanning for other drones. There are over a dozen wrecks here already and there are at least a dozen more ships for him to destroy. I think they're cruisers and frigates from the look of them. He's just killing the ships and not looting. There is no MTU so there is a bunch of yellow wrecks. I warp away a few times to ninja other abandoned drones before settling down at this mission site for him to finish. The wrecks are strewn everywhere and navigating them with a Battleship would be a huge pain in the ass.
2 extra waves of reinforcements appear and this is taking forever.
During this last wave, the text in local appears stating that the Pirate leader has been killed, return for your mission reward. Beauty, if he warps off now I can start looting.
Sure enough I see him warp away and i'm uncloaked and MWD burning my way to the wrecks. As I get to the closest one I can see that the farthest one away is over 100km. This will take some time.
My cargo is full a few wrecks in and I bookmark the wreck and warp to the safe spot and jettison everything. I see that the mission runner has left the system so I just need to watch dscan for combat probes, and watch local for the guy returning (if he even returns) to loot and salvage.
Back to the site I go while I loot the jettison can with my alt and take that gear back to the station I leave the probes in there as I obviously just dumped everything. Leaving something in the container will also bypass the jettison timer as I can just add to the existing container.
Once again I fill up the Helios and once again I chuck it all in the can already at the safe spot. Third time and I'm back at the wrecks. I don't think the guy is returning as I finish looting the last wreck.
Once again I warp to the safe spot and add the loot to the jettison can. I'll take my Core and Combat probes back thanks, and reload the launcher. It is now 2am local time and I think that's enough but I still have 13 minutes on the suspect timer. I move off the can and cloak while my alt takes the loot back to the station in a few more trips. Damn the executioner cargo of 125 is smaller than the Helios 175.
After that's done I log the alt out and leave the suspect logged in and cloaked while I go to bed. I don't have a salvager in Highsec. Mental note I'll fit up a Catalyst Salvager like the one I fitted for the Wormhole. I'll post the fit on here when I do.
This morning when I woke I could see I was still alive. I dock at the closest station and that's a job done. While the loot wasn't fantastic, it felt good to just pinch it without actually doing the killing. I wonder if the guy came back? hehe.
